As a family-run wildlife education business, we bring more than 24 years of experience handling venomous snakes and teaching people about Australian wildlife. Our training combines practical knowledge, workplace examples, live animal demonstrations and first aid education to help participants recognise hazards, reduce risks and respond calmly to wildlife encounters.
We offer one-hour Snake Safety Talks, two-hour Snake Safety & Awareness Training and four-hour Wildlife Safety & Awareness Sessions. Each option can be tailored to your location, audience and the situations your team is likely to face.
Based in Victoria, we travel to workplaces and communities throughout the state, with interstate training available by arrangement.

An introduction to living and working safely around snakes
Our one-hour Snake Safety & Awareness Talk provides a practical introduction to snake behaviour, bite prevention and snakebite first aid. It is ideal for community groups, schools and workplaces looking for a shorter session that covers the essentials.
Through a combination of PowerPoint, physical teaching aids and live snake displays, we explain why snakes behave as they do, where encounters are likely to occur and how a calm, informed response can reduce risk.

Contained live venomous snakes allow participants to see the animals discussed during the presentation. Depending on the location and availability, species may include Tiger Snakes, Eastern Brown Snakes, Red-bellied Black Snakes and Copperheads.
Seeing these animals in person helps participants understand their appearance and behaviour while putting common fears and misconceptions into perspective.

Our core workplace safety session
Our two-hour Snake & Spider Safety Training gives participants a practical understanding of the animals they may encounter during their work and the steps they can take to prevent injury.
The session combines theory, live animal demonstrations, workplace examples and practical first aid activities. Content is tailored to your region and work environment, whether your team works around waterways, in bushland, on construction sites or maintaining parks and public spaces.
Training covers:
Participants observe live venomous snakes within our government-approved snake pit. This controlled demonstration allows our trainer to explain movement, behaviour and identifying features while the snakes remain contained.
Animals are selected to reflect the species relevant to your team. Victorian sessions may feature Tiger Snakes, Eastern Brown Snakes, Red-bellied Black Snakes and Copperheads. Spider awareness forms part of the training, with live spiders kept in secure display enclosures when included.
Participants also have the opportunity to interact with harmless reptiles, such as pythons and lizards. These supervised encounters help build understanding and confidence around wildlife.
A key part of the session is practising pressure immobilisation bandaging using training bandages, including bandages with pressure indicators. Participants receive guidance on their technique and discuss how first aid fits into their workplace emergency response.
Supporting resources include a training booklet, snake identification magnet and first aid magnet, helping staff revisit the information after the session.
Duration: Two hours.
Group size: Ideally 10–20 participants, with a standard maximum of 25.
Suitable for: Outdoor workers, field teams and workplaces where snake encounters are a foreseeable risk.
A one-of-a-kind approach to workplace wildlife safety
Developed by Black Snake Productions, our four-hour Wildlife Safety & Awareness session brings together snake safety, broader wildlife awareness, practical first aid and live animal demonstrations in one specialised workplace program.
Drawing on our experience caring for and working with a wide range of Australian animals, we help staff understand the wildlife they may encounter and make safer decisions for both people and animals.
The session is particularly suited to teams working in bushland, along waterways, on rural properties or in environments where encounters with native and introduced wildlife are part of the job.

The session includes live venomous snake demonstrations within our government-approved snake pit, alongside selected wildlife used to explain animal behaviour and appropriate responses.
Drawing from the reptiles, birds, marsupials and invertebrates at our private zoo, we select animals to support the session’s learning goals and the needs of your team. Harmless reptiles, including pythons and lizards, provide opportunities for supervised interaction where appropriate.
These demonstrations help staff recognise that different animals require different responses. Participants learn when to give an animal space, when an encounter needs professional assistance and how unnecessary intervention can increase risk.
The four-hour format allows more time for questions, practical activities and discussion of situations your staff have experienced. We connect wildlife awareness with everyday tasks, helping participants consider hazards before starting work and respond thoughtfully when an unexpected encounter occurs.

Suitable for: Councils, water authorities, utilities, environmental teams, land managers, Indigenous rangers and other outdoor workforces needing broader wildlife safety training.
Our training draws on decades of work with Australian wildlife and direct experience teaching people about venomous snakes. Lead trainer Michael Alexander is an experienced zookeeper, venomous snake handler and accredited TAE trainer, with first aid, wildlife spotter catcher and workplace safety credentials.
We explain the reasons behind safe practices, giving participants knowledge they can apply when an unexpected encounter occurs.
These sessions focus on awareness, prevention and emergency response. Organisations requiring staff to capture or relocate snakes can enquire separately about our Snake Relocation & Handling courses delivered with SSSAFE.
We can deliver training at your workplace or a suitable local venue. For workplace sessions, we generally require a meeting room, projector and screen, and an appropriate area for the approved snake enclosure.
